In this chapter, we are introduced to the new freesia. We learn that she has been living in a strange village for the past 200 years, and that she is unable to remember anything or do anything of her own volition. This is not the same as being under the curse of a broken psyche, but it is a curse that is completely engraved upon her soul. This curse is different from the curse she is under because she cannot remember anything and can do no one else's free will. This means that she will not be able to go back to her old freesia, even if she regains her powers. The two of them decide to sleep together in the same room, and the narrator says that he thought he was going to say goodbye to her, but he was wrong. He says that even though he thought she would die, she will live with the demon. He promises to protect her forever.
