In this chapter, the "pretext" explains that freesia does not have a heart, but she does have a "special power" that allows her to survive even when she is without a heart. If all of her power is sucked up, she might die. He explains that the only information he has received about the warrior is that she is a "normal girl" and that she does not know how to sit still without fainting. He wonders if this is because she has a demon in her side, or if there is some "special condition" that prevents her from getting her power back. He asks the demon if he really is a great demon, and the demon replies that he is not, but that he will trust the demon to tell him the truth. The demon explains that even though people were afraid of the warrior when she was sealed, they were immediately taken to deal with her. He says that he, his children, his mother, and his grandmother have all been caught in a life they did not want for themselves.
