This is a reference to the fact that the secret of the demon's existence is to be kept from the public. The chapter ends with the protagonist exclaiming that the experiment on village has failed. He then goes on to explain that the girl who was brought from the village is remarkable in her ability to animate a human body. He wonders if she might have gotten the power from a god, but the villagers have called her the "child of a god." The protagonist is shocked to learn that the ancestors of the protagonist were not the warriors' comrades. They were just "trash researchers" who followed the protagonist to observe the experiment.
