In this short scene, Shum opens the chapter by saying that when he first met Bing, he was impressed by the young man's ability to use essences. He wants to know if he needs to protect Bing in the future. Shum asks the castellan if he was mistaken. The castellan says that he was just playing a bluff, and Shum wants to test his abilities by himself. He also wants to see how much stronger Bing is than him. The two of them argue about whether or not they should take the sparring match too seriously, but Shum says he will be merciful to Castellan, but that he will not be able to humiliate Bing in front of anyone. He says that if he hadn't been lenient with him earlier, he wouldn't have been able to take the beating he received. He tells Shum that he has earned his respect, and that it is a good thing that he sparred with Castellan. He asks Shum why he is being so stern, and he says he wants to learn spiritual arts from Shum. He then asks why Shum is helping him out, and she says that she is helping out like a prostitute blade sect. She says that Shum should not meddle in the business of anyone else's business, as she is more like a "shrewd scum." Shum tells her that within a few days, "tempest city" will need Shum's help to defeat "some demons." He tells her to take a guess at what the demon they saw today was doing. She is unable to guess, however, because her demonic aura was not very strong
