Lin tells the elder that he was on his way when the ghostly sect sneaked up on him and cornered him at the end of the cliff. After a while, he woke up in a cave in the "intangible of mount qi" . He's worried about the enemy being in the cave, but he doesn't know where they are. He plans to break free, but the wall of the cave is so strong that even his sword energy can't break it. Lin asks the elder if he's feeling well, and the elder tells him to have some food first. Lin tells him that he caught a glimpse of a collapsed tunnel, and he wants the elder to join him in clearing it. The elder agrees to help, and Lin explains that he has been poisoned by the "phantom essence" of the immortal sect and that a masked man attacked him. The poison spread all over his body except his heart. Lin says that he can only use a tiny amount of sword energy with his condition now, and that maybe this is the last part of his journey. He begs the elder for help, saying that he'll teach him his martial arts.
