Three months ago a group of demon-creatures came to the ancient city. They only hunted livestock, but recently some pedestrians were killed by them. The city guards have arrived to protect the city from the demons, but they haven't asked for help from the dynasty. They've heard about the demon-cults, but the dynasty isn't sending any troops yet. The soldiers have encountered an "essence cultivator" , and they're suspicious that the young man is a demon. They use the "demon scanning crystal" to check for signs of a demon's presence in the city, so that the soldiers can make sure that they aren't actually demons. The young man asks if the stone in his hand is a green gemstone, and the soldiers think he might be an essence cultivator, but he's still an ordinary person. He asks the soldiers to prove it, so he takes a tablet and goes to the inn next door.
