As long as the old man believes him, he'll believe him. The old man tells the young man that the herb-king's-valley is the best place for him to find help. He's also a celestial master, and he's nowhere to be found. The headmaster of the valley is also a saint, and people are eager to meet him, but the headmaster isn't there. The young man is grateful, but he doesn't have the money to pay for the headmaster's services. He says he'd give it to the headmaster, but only if the money is enough to save his life. He then gives the young men a talisman, which he says is his "heaven-suppressing pacifier." The young men go to the valley, where the headmaster will help them find out who the demon is, and then they'll tell the headmaster about the problem. As soon as they're gone, the elder man is shocked to see that the kid has bought the story of the demon's death. The elder man wonders if the kid is really a blessing, or a threat to the old master. He wants to know who the spirit is. He just wants to be with him everyday.
