This chapter opens with a discussion between the young master and Lingshan. The young master explains that he is afraid that he will not be able to defeat Lin because he has gathered all of the four sacred swords. He asks the old master if he is going to get anything interesting out of the duel. The old master replies that he does not want to get something out of it. He says that the eight clans of the southern territory have already joined the darkness surge. Therefore, if the four other clans want to survive, they should also join. He explains that the yao and jian clans are already under his control. The fengyue clan is soon to join, too. He adds that the Buddha temple has invited them to attend the meeting of the vulcans. A powerful monkey appears in the temple holding a club. The men try to capture it but are beaten back. Chief yao ge says that he can collect the monkey and bring it to the meeting. He then asks the immortals to go with him on the walk to the temple. The remaining three of his friends stay with the clan. The elder master asks the younger master which of his four sisters he likes best. The younger master says he is still shy. He tells the older master that he has not progressed in his cultivation. He also asks the elder master why he didn't tell them about this important matter. The older master answers that he was afraid his sisters would be concerned. He goes on to say that the elder man is a decent man and that he must be unyielding
