The monk explains that he has spent his entire life studying dao, but he cannot see through the river and get out. Now that the boatman is with him, he cant deal with the man again. The monk tells him that the ultimate dao is only able to reach the peak of his cultivation. He says that he will not lose when he comes to cultivating his spirit. He explains that countless years ago there were nine emperors. Therefore, the nine Emperors were the greatest dao. He tells the monk that he underestimated him. The demon pupil says that his demonic nature does not affect him at all. He adds that the martial arts lost before the Nine Emperors era were not the great Dao since they were unaware of the lost martial arts. he says that the young man is the true descendent of the demon Emperor. The young man wants to take things from the demon emperor in order to help him rise again. He asks the monk to tell him what the Great Dao is. He answers that the Great dao consists of three stages. They are the past, the present and the future. The great dao can only be called great when the combination of the three stages is called great. He gives the monk the directions to enter the river.
