The next morning, the Governess and her son go to the chateau to discuss the baby. The Governess is furious that her son has not been told about the baby's existence. She blames herself for misinterpreting her son's father's words. She tells the boy that he is the son of a "sshole" and asks him to tell her the truth about his father. The boy, however, refuses to tell his father the truth, saying that he does not want to "grab anything from you." He asks his father why he did not tell him about the existence of the baby, and he says that he has already told him the truth. He also asks his mother why she did not inform him that the baby was the product of hers. She says that it is her fault for misreading him, and that she will do her best to correct him
