In this chapter, we learn that little chen is going to be reunited with his grandmother, and that he's going to have to deal with all kinds of problems. He's not sure that he and his new love can handle all of this, but he'll try to do his best for her. He tells little jie that his birthday is tomorrow, and he asks if he can accompany him to a place. He doesn't know what he'd like to eat for dinner, so he can't tell Little chen what it's like to be without his grandmother. He also tells her that two years ago, he divorced her because he wanted to start over with love again. He says that he proposed to her, but she rejected him. She's the only love in his life, he tells her, and she's his only love. He asks her why she is telling him all this now, when he would have come if his mother hadn't died.
