In this chapter, we learn that Long Xiao is an expert bartender, and that he's also a lover of Madame Bovary's. He's happy to be able to bring his wife to the brothel, where he can have her "welcome as a treat" . He also tells us that a new drug called "silence" comes from the underworld, and it's called "devil's kiss" because of its place in the devil's palace. He says that he still feels scared when he hears people talking about drugs in front of him, but he can't blame him for being scared. He tells her that he is a doctor, and even if something is wrong with him, he can still be his wife. She begs him to leave her a message, and he promises to do so.
