About This Chapter
The next morning, Deryn arrives home. She is suffering from a mysterious disease and needs expensive medicine. Deryn explains that the younger generation has their own destinies and destinies are ordained by God. He tells her that he has delayed her journey because he wants to make sure that she stays alive. He then introduces his senior disciple, Lin, and introduces his younger disciple, Dawei. He explains that Lin and Deryn were traveling together in a carriage, and that Lin has a strange disease. He cannot find a cure for her, and the rest of his life will depend on her. He also explains that he is the second disciple of Deryn's. He introduces himself as the senior disciple of Dawei, and tells his younger brother that he and Lin were traveling in the carriage together. They are both suffering from the same disease, and they need expensive medicine to cure them. He says that he can't figure out a way for them to cure each other, because he has no idea how to do so. He shows his brother the new office building, which was built by a company that spent a lot of money on the building. He asks his brother if he is afraid of spiders, and he tells him that they are just as brave as he is. He compares the spiders to black widows, who are very poisonous, but they attack only when they are hungry and threatened. He reveals that he chose a black widow's cave because he wanted to find a place where he could kill all the black widows in the area. They were all poisoned, but he chose the one with the poisoned widows because he was able to kill both of them.
