He praises the players for their hard work and urges them to do their best on the field. He tells the coach that he will show them what he can do. The coach calls out to him, "Buzz cut" , and the narrator cannot believe that he has been called a "joke" by the coach. He says that the ball is "light" and that the coach is making a fool of himself by giving it to him.
