About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he first saw Oishi play when she was in elementary school. Everyone said that she was scary, but he thought she was cool. He wishes he could play with her in high school, but she's turned into a "well- trained dog" . The narrator asks Manabu if he wants to play some kind of "volleyball" with Oishi. Manabu says that he'd like to, but that his team can't compete with the speed of Oishi's team at the team's training camp in Japan. He tells the narrator that he practiced with the captain all the time he was away, and that shino is now more accurate at passing the ball. He says that training was worth it, because he always got his back. Atsuko cheers him on, and the narrator feels like he's getting pulled up by her. He wants to know how he can love Oishi so much. He asks how she can act so embarrassingly around her opponent, and she says that it's no big deal. He loves her too, and he asks her to let it out. He doesn't want to tell her about his eyes right now.
