In this chapter, the cat and the girl talk about the upcoming tournament. The cat asks the girl if it's okay for her to talk to the girl. The girl says that she doesn't care if the girl talks to her, because she's in the semifinals of a team sport. She's not interested in the girl, though, because the girl has an "overactive sense of empathy" , which means that she can't really understand what other people are feeling. It's hard for the girl to be around other people, she says, because her emotions aren't the same as theirs. She says that sometimes girls are attracted to the instability of their emotions, and that sometimes they'll find a way to attract each other. In other words, the girl and the cat are both attracted to each other, but they're not attracted to one another yet.
