The doctor tells Hiroshi that he's afraid of the dark and wants to see him. He's grateful that Hiroshi is so kind to him. Hiroshi tells the doctor that he doesn't want to worry about Atsuko, but he does want to see Hiroshi and Hiroshi's parents. He tells them to come see him for an eye examination. He also tells them that the government has recently declared eye diseases a public health concern, so they'll be able to get rid of scholarship students if their symptoms get worse. The doctor says that he thinks Hiroshi will eventually go blind from the disease.
