In this chapter, we learn more about Atsuko's relationship with Hiroyuki. Hiroyuki's mother fled from her abusive father, and the family accepted them. When he was young, he and his mother had to run away from their abusive father. They had nowhere else to go, but they were accepted by the family, so their first mission was to keep things between them peaceful. He tells us that he tried to avoid thinking about his father, but he can't do that anymore. He asks Hiroyuki what he wants to do, and he tells him that he's here to pick him up from the girls' meeting. He also tells Hiroyuki that he needs him to come back to dinner that night, and Hiroyuki agrees, saying that atsuko has been waiting for him to wear her new shoes. He adds that he doesn't think that she's upset by her father's behavior, because if she hated him, she probably wouldn't have kept it up. He says that he and the other girls just need to beat Suzaku and not disappoint the captain and principal. They're going to do that, Hiroyuki says, and then he asks if he can sleep with Kyoko, and she says that they've been sharing a bed a couple of times, and that they don't really want to be in bed together anymore. She says that she can hug him all he wants, but Hiroyuki won't be able to hug her, because they're so close together. She asks him if he'd like to go get sara, and when he says no, she asks him to leave the car so they can talk.
