About This Chapter
The next morning, the girls go to the train station to meet their mom. When they get to the station, they see a sign that says, "Nogan temple it" , which means, "Don't try too hard" . This is a reference to the fact that atsuko passed out the day before, and the girls want to know why she's practicing so hard. The mom tells them not to push themselves too hard, but to stay out of their way. She also tells them that they shouldn't be acting like they're her own daughters. She tells them to stop acting like their moms are their own daughters, and that she'll let them teach her how to play the game. The girls agree that it's time for them to get back to playing the game, and they agree that they want to teach each other the same thing. They also agree that the other girl is just doing what her mom has told her to do. They both agree that if she keeps practicing the way her mom is teaching her, she should be able to keep playing the way she wants to. They agree that this is the way they want it to be. The moms agree that there's nothing to worry about, since they've both been playing the sport for so long that they don't need to think too much about it. Atsuko says that she needs to be more focused on winning the rumi, which is the hardest part of the game to play. She says she'd like to learn how to block and hit the ball better if she were in someone else's shoes. She thanks her mom for teaching her to play, and tells her to take care of her way home. She adds that she doesn't want to dwell on what happened after she left the team, since it'll only make things worse. She notes that the same time, machizo started writing a magazine about a girl fighting for a girl's life, and it sounds like the girl didn't tell her mom what she was doing. She's glad that she finally told her mom, because
