About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the situation in the area where the hero is hiding out. The narrator informs us that the situation is dire, and that the farmers have been forced to sell their crops to the cartels in order to survive. The farmers are not at fault, the narrator tells us, because the farmers themselves planted the crops in the first place. The farmer, however, is a member of one of the largest and most powerful cartels in the world, the "guerrero jaguar." The narrator then tells us that he and the other members of the local militia have been sent to the police station to question the leader of the cartel. The leader has been captured by the police, and the two groups have begun fighting.
