The next morning, Zhang wakes up to find that the company has refused to let him go back to the island. He asks if he can stay, but Zhang refuses to answer his questions. He tells Zhang to blow up the walls of the company's laboratory and find out what's going on. He also tells him that the old man has been doing some kind of transformation to him, and that he's lucky that he didn't become infected. The old man, he says, is trying to get rid of Zhang, but he doesn't know what to do with himself. He wonders where Jack is now. He's just heard that the director's body has been found, and he'd like to know when the external help will arrive. He says he'll use the virus to paralyze the system in the laboratory. It'll make it easier for Zhang and his mother to get away from the burning star.
