Toy In My Palm

In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the concept of "rebirth," a new medical device that has been developed in the year 2080. It is a device that harnesses the power of the brain and the body to cure diseases and delay aging and death. The protagonist's younger brother, Doctor Alexandre, is a graduate student at the school of science. He has just awakened from a dream in which his older sister, Doctor Betsey, has undergone a heart-regeneration operation. Doctor Alexandre tells his younger brother that his sister is receiving excellent treatment in a hospital under the new device. He tells his brother that he will cure his sister if he will listen to him from now on. He says that if he wants to see his sister, he must listen to all of his words. He explains that he is willing to do whatever it takes to save his sister. The only thing that keeps him from doing anything is the fact that he can't see her. He asks Doctor Alexandre to take his medicine to see if his sister's health is improving.
