About This Chapter
It's getting chilly outside, and the narrator asks the protagonist if he's cold. The protagonist says that he isn't, and he thanks the protagonist for being kind to him. The narrator tells the protagonist that he can listen to the conversation between the protagonist and Toda from outside the bunny shed, which is right next to the shed. He realizes that the protagonist is listening in on Toda and seno's conversation. He thinks that the two are like an old, retired couple, and that they've lost their way in the world. When the protagonist asks if he can ask about the previous day, Toda says that she was special to him that day and that she's happy to be with him. She says that the other day, she said that she would stop laughing if she meant it, because it was weirding her out. Toda asks if she knows who that guy she likes is, and she says she doesn't. She also asks if there's anyone she likes, and toda says she likes her a lot. The conversation turns to Toda's class, and they think that she and her husband have left.
