The chapter opens on a spring morning in high school. It's the morning of the spring break, which means it's time for the students to get back to school. One of the girls, named Yamada, has been hanging out with the other girl, named Yousuke, and they're teasing each other about how bored they are. Yamada says she's bored because she doesn't get to talk about anything interesting. Yousuke says he's his best friend, and that's why he likes yamada so much. He's also jealous that Yamada doesn have a girlfriend. The other girl wants to speak to him, and he says he already listened to her new CD, which made him want to go see a concert or go to a music festival. He asks where the "cherry blossom petal" is on his head, and she tells him that there's one on the right. He says he was lying, but he wasn't telling the truth. The girl says she was talking about her "24/7 hmph" and that she'd be happy to show her off if she had a friend. She asks him if he'd been dating her lately, and when he says no, she asks him what's up with it. He tells her that he was expecting her to ask him out, which is lame.
