In this chapter, we learn that Toda still hasn't invited Hiro to the festival, even though she's invited him to a phone call. We learn that Hiro is on a call with Toda's sister, Sugiyama, and that she wants Toda to come along with her. Toda, however, doesn't want to make it sound like he's already invited her, so she tells Hiro that she'll try again. She also tells him to send a message over the phone instead of calling, since she thinks it's better to talk on the phone than to send him a text message. Hiro tells us that he was holding his phone when he received the call from Toda and that he wanted to call her too, but she didn't reply. He then tells her that he just received a call from Sugiyama asking him to go with her to a festival. He's super happy that she asked him, but he also wants to brag about it to her. He also tells her about his decision to help out with his father's stall at the festival. When she asks him why he'd come to the restaurant if he had no money, he tells her it was because his dad asked him to do it, and now that he thinks about it, it might be a good idea to do the same sort of thing.
