The day of the necktie is here, and the narrator asks how he ties it. He's not used to it, and he's worried that he looks too close to his future wife. He asks the narrator to show him how to tie a necktie. The narrator shows the narrator how to put the part on the necktie, and then how he puts the part behind it. After the first demonstration, the narrator can't keep it on, and his hands are shaking. He wonders why he hasn't been able to tie his own tie before, and wonders if his wife would be able to do it for him. He says that his mom often ties his father's necktie for him, and that's why he wants to do the same for himself someday. He tells the narrator that he'd like to marry his fiancee someday, but he doesn't know what to do with himself. He wants to tie hers, he says, because she'll be so nice to him. Then the narrator says something weird, and it's clear that he was trying to make a joke about his impending marriage. He jokingly says that he wants his tie for himself,
