About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he promised his grandfather that he'd visit some of the old friends in the court. When he gets back to the apartment, he's so excited that he can't stop crying. He's about to give the medicine to his grandfather when someone stops him and asks him to give it back. The narrator is so happy that someone has stopped him that he doesn't even notice that someone is trying to steal the medicine from him. Instead, he sees that someone's at home waiting for the fei to come and take the medicine. He tells the narrator to take the money and ask the doctor for a diagnosis so that the girl can get better. This is a good idea, the narrator says, because it'll save the girl's life. But then he realizes that his sister gave the money to him so he could find a doctor for her. He realizes that she's there to seduce his senior brother.
