The Duke's sister, Linghuxue, tells the Duke that she has changed her clothes and that she is angry with him. The Duke tells her to go back to his house and rest. He tells her that he will be returning to Lanling in two days to fetch a thousand-year-old snow lotus. He then instructs her to take the yellow pill first and then the marrow pill after the poison has left her system. He also instructs her that she should take the pill before the yellow one. LinghuXue tells him that she will work very hard to refine the pills. She also tells him about a youth contest she has held in which anyone can enter and win the right to take her pills. The purpose of the contest, she says, is to find "talented young people" and cultivate them.
