This chapter opens with a soliloquy by a young woman who has just returned from a trip to the north. She tells the young man that she is now married and that she has feelings for him. The young woman tells him that she wants to lie to her husband, but he misunderstands her. He tells her to keep a distance so that he will not be able to see her in love with him. He also tells her that she should treat her husband better since cheating hurts people more than anything else.
