The scene opens with the narrator lamenting the fact that he has finally met someone. He realizes that they have broken into the territory of the "big shot" . The narrator feels that he must test the "might" of the big shot. He asks the man if he has a "tender heart" for women, and the man responds that he does not. He then asks the woman if she is a villager, and she responds that she is traveling with him. He tells her that he did not expect her to be married so young, and that she lives a "lowlife" life. He vows to destroy everything she has.
