The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night and tells himself that he's in a dream with Natsune and Kamabiki. They're walking through the woods together. The narrator asks if he should apologize for leaving them to die. He says that he killed all the animals that were infected with bovine encephalitis, or mad cow disease. The disease turns the cows' brains into sponges, so they can't stand or walk.
