When the narrator enters the control room, he finds himself in the middle of a conversation with a man named Yuuko. The man tells him that he has been working at the facility for three years and that it is not suitable for the disposal of waste. The narrator is shocked to learn that the cradle, the cooling tower, was built three years ago. He also learns that the facility is above board and that if he does not like it, he is free to return home. He wonders why it has taken so long for his co-workers to come to terms with the fact that they have to work for a living. He asks Yuuko what he saw when he first entered the facility, and the man replies that he saw the "big ass mantis" in the ceiling
