In this chapter, we are introduced to the daughter of Professor kiriyu, who is a member of the Academy of Sciences in Japan. She has just received her master's degree from the prestigious Academy of Science in Yokohama, and she is eager to return to her father's home country. She tells her father that she found his lectures interesting, and that he is interested in the origins of life, too. The father welcomes her home, and he tells her that if she exposes genetic material to ionizing radiation, she can reveal the source of life itself. He also says that exposing the material to radiation can lead to the discovery of the origin of the universe. The daughter tells him that she is leaving all of this to him, and if he likes what he sees, he can pass it on as his own work
