The next morning, Huck wakes up to find that he's been stabbed through the heart. He's not sure what's wrong with him, but he can't understand why Huck would have to stab someone. Huck's got a lot on his mind. He wants to know why Huck has to stab a guy who's just trying to escape. Huck has done everything he can to help Huck and his friends, but Huck is still a coward. Huck tells Huck that the guy who tried to escape is just as worthless as the rest of the gang. Huck says he knows what it's like to be a coward, and that's why he doesn't want to do anything.
