Back in Chapter 38, we learn that Junichi Izumi, the former director of the school, was once an "elite businessman" . He and his wife moved out of their home and into a six-room apartment. One year later, they were evicted from their home, and now they live in a tent. They go camping, and when they return, they find that their son has a fever and needs urgent medical attention. He begs them to help him, but they refuse, saying that he can sell his son one of his kidneys to pay for the treatment. The father tells the boy that he has changed his mind, and that he is sorry for the "incondience" he has suffered. He tells the son that his father is going to become the director of a school in the future, and the child wonders what the matter is with his father.
