Starving Anonymous

The chapter opens with a description of the creatures that are about to devour the earth. The narrator tells us that they're going to eat us, too, just like they did to the other creatures in the previous chapter. The story goes something like this: Once upon a time, there was a planet with an environment conducive to life. It had a sphere, water, light, and a temperate climate. Life flourished there, but it was soon overtaken by an advanced civilization. The advanced civilization was able to create new life forms, but they were unable to suppress the appetites of their own creatures. They devoured everything in the path of theirs, until they had nothing to eat except each other. They recruited those that still had hope, and sent them out to find a new home.
