This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Cai Ling and Cai Ling's brother, Fang, were killed by the "Caesar ghoul" . Cai Ling tells Cai Ling that he has shared the same blood as Cai Ling, and that he can feel the "blood" of the monster. He asks Cai Ling why he is so sure, and he tells him that he feels the "same blood" as the monster and that the monster is very "resilient" to any damage it is subjected to. When Cai Ling asks where Cai Ling is, he is shocked to find that Cai Ling has broken his back and that his blood is not healing. He then asks where the "real body" of Cai Ling lies, and the sound of a "buffoon's heartbeat" echoes through the room.
