About This Chapter
The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night. He's lost consciousness, and his eyelids are drooping. He can't sleep, and he's worried about what's going to happen to his soul if he doesn't wake up soon. He wants to know what the heck is going on. He hears a knock at the door, and it's the voice of a ghoul. The ghoul smells like a corpse, and the narrator thinks he smells like the corpse of wu. He wonders if the ghoul is actually wu, and wonders why he smells so familiar to him. The narrator wonders if he smells the same smell as the wu that he used to smell when he was a kid. He also wonders if wu is really dead, and if he is on the blacklist because he didn't go to school. He knows that the next day, mockingbird no. 281100 will be examined for feeding.
