This chapter opens with a flashback to the night before the meeting between Cai and Guyu. Cai asks Guyu if she remembers him, and she tells him that she does, but that she has no memory of him. When Cai asks her why, she says that he is drunk, and that he has gone to take Guyu to the world. Cai tells her that she should be angry, but she is not, because she has lied to him. She asks him if he has been sleeping, and he says that she is lying, but he is not angry because he has not even fever. He asks her if she has brought an umbrella, and Cai says that it is raining outside. She says that the rain is heavy, and the porridge she is cooking will be cold, if she does not deliver it now. She tells Cai that he should not push himself to deliver the porridge now, because it will be bad for her health. Cai thinks that she must have been really hungry, because her porridge tastes awful.
