About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a discussion of the many proposals for a book about demis, which have not yet been published. The narrator explains that it is difficult to put out such books because there are so many other books about the demis on the shelves. He says that he has read all of them and they all do not make sense to him. He wonders if the geezer who has thanked him is thanking him for his work. He then goes on to say that he will hide his new books in a secret place to get his sister. He explains that the book is about how the traits of demis have changed over the years. It does not seem like vampires were as powerful back then as they are today. He thinks that this is because of the fear and hostility toward vampires, but he wonders if vampires were actually more powerful than humans back then. He asks if he is having a moment of "chatting away" with the times, and he says he would never agree with that. He adds that he is not into students, and that he once talked about it with his friend. He advises his friend to talk to his sister and not to "brush off her feelings"
