This is a locked chapterChapter 28: Vampires Among Us
About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which the protagonist wakes up in the middle of the night with a headache. He's not sure what's going on, but he's sure it's a headache from being woken up by a vampire. The narrator tells the protagonist that his eyes shine at night because they're built differently than other people's, but that's because they have different blood-sensing abilities. He also tells him to be careful about getting a sunburn in the summer, because the sun can make your skin sensitive to the heat. The protagonist then asks the narrator how long he thinks he has been a vampire, and the narrator tells him that vampires are very natural, so they can avoid sunlight and use their special blood senses to find their prey. He then says that the narrator must have been too eager to tell the protagonist how to live a normal life, because he was so eager to give him advice about how to survive in the vampire world. The vampire, however, doesn't understand why the narrator would want to tell him that, and he tells the narrator that he can still hunt with his white cape flying and his song coat on, even in the dark. He tells the vampire to join the fun and join in on the hunt, since he'll "suck his blood" .
