In this chapter, the narrator reflects on his inability to control his "powers of seduction." He wonders if fashion might help him do so. He realizes that his seductions will work on someone else's will, and he wonders if his will might influence that person's seductions. The narrator wonders if he could control his own seductions, like Closin's dripping faucet. He thinks that he could wear a plain gym suit every day, but that this would weaken his seduction powers because he would not want anyone to think that he was attracted by this plain outfit. He also thinks that if he were dressed all sexy, his seduction would be even more intense, since he would feel that he is "so you're so sexier . . and you are also dressed ! . will and seductive" . He concludes that he can control his seduction by getting used to looking good, and that he must achieve a "buddha hood" , a symbol of peace and serenity.
