About This Chapter
Now that we're back in Hiroshige's world, he shows us two new slides. First, he explains that the neck of a normal human exists in a different dimension than that of a zashiki warrior . He also explains that food and other things travel through the neck, even though they're separated by a distance of thousands of miles. The dulla looks normal, but the neck is separated from the head in a dimension called "dimension b" . That's right, the dulla's head and the dullak's neck are separated in dimension "dimensions b" and "dimension c" , which is why they look so different. It's not just the differences in the two dimensions that make them so different, it's also the fact that they don't exist in the same plane as one another. The only thing that's different between the two is the color of the eyes, which, as we've already seen, isn't the same color as the rest of the world's colors. Hirohige asks if he's called him a demi, or a spiritual medium, and if he can serve other demis in his own way. He's a special kind of demi, he says, because he can see his own dimension and serve other people's dimensions. He doesn't know why he'd say that twice, but he thinks it might be because he wants to know.
