Back at the inn, Madame Bovary asks Miss Jessel if she can bring the trunk to the doll girl. Miss Jessell says that she's just doing what she was told to do. She's changed the doll's shock absorbers, which were nearly shot, and replaced her nerve with a new one. She says that the mainframe is warped, which means that it's not nearly as good as it used to be. She also says that if she leaves the scoundrel now, she'll barge into the room and rescue the master, but she won't be able to move because the anchor is broken. She thinks that maybe she should think about what could happen to her, since they thought that she was the enemy. She wonders if the old guy is selling her out, since she was his ally after he hurt her so deeply. She asks if they should start the attack on the city, since the city is full of lowlifes, and since the one at risk is the doll, they should capture her.
