The next time we see the group, they're in the middle of a battle. They've just entered an enemy kill zone, and they feel like they've entered a whole new enemy territory. They don't know what's going on, but they think it's a giant machine that's about to attack them. Marie asks if the machine can move, and the answer is "yes" . It's so big that it'll be hard for ryuzu to cut it down, even if he wanted to. Marie figures out that the machine is about six times the size of Madame Bovary's body, and that it was made by someone who wanted to sacrifice a city to make a machine that could kill them all. The group runs off to find some evidence of the machine's existence.
