In this chapter, we learn that the Imperial Palace intends to teach Marie how to use her feelings to make sense of the world around her. Marie, however, is skeptical of this plan, as she feels that the world is not in harmony with her feelings. She believes that it is impossible for her to understand the world because she cannot see it in terms of common sense.
