About This Chapter
The bartender, Ganymede, tells the waiter that his client is a "hard ass" about the kind of drinks he's offering. He's got a client who's "hard-ass about" anything that's good to drink, so he'd rather have a good drink than a lousy one. Ganyme tells him that if he wants a good one, he can go to the bar and get it for himself. The bartender says he'll give him a drink, but he doesn't want it to be a "cock tail" . He wants a "fairy lady" , which is what the bar's name is. He says he loves the "mid-summer dream" of waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the "king of the verts" and his wife fighting. He tells the bartender to "come all you fairies" and to "bang as lightly as you can as dogs" in the bushes. He also says that the king is "arrogant and selfish" and that in the end, he makes everyone "happy one grand finale." The bartender agrees, and says that his boss wants him to get some drinks for him. He asks the bartender what he did with his boss, and the bartender says that he wanted to get involved in a "turf war" with a bunch of other guys in the city. The waiter says that'd be a bad idea, since he've never been involved in anything like that before. He then says that if his boss hadn't been so sad, he wouldn't have been sad right now. The man in question is the head of the city's arsenal, and he says that some "untrained mixed monkeys" got him to hire some
