This chapter opens with a conversation between a young man and his father. The young man tells his father that he is a senior in college and that he lives next door to his daughter rina. He is worried that his daughter is going to marry kyouya, a man who is a good friend of his father's. The father tells his son that he will never allow his daughter to return to the house where she has been living for the past twenty-one years. When the young man asks his father what he can do, the father tells him that he was once a sex worker and that his wife had divorced her husband. He says that his parents have passed away and he is now a burden to his family.
