A boy friend of Souda's comes to visit him at the shrine. He tells Souda that his family is planning to go to the shrine for the first time in the new year, and that he'd like to hang out with him. Souda says he's glad that he has someone to talk to, since he'll be hanging out with a friend from school the next day. The boy says that he wishes he could invite someone else to come with him, but that he doesn't have the courage to ask Souda. He's afraid that if he did ask him, he would feel bad for inviting her, and so he invites the boy to come along with him on the day of the shrine's opening. He says that it's a shame that he didn't ask him earlier, because it would have made him feel better, but the boy says he still wants to see him when he gets back.
