The scene opens with a flashback to the day of the murder. It is clear that Yon is remembering the events of the previous day. He remembers that the man who killed him was not the murderer, but Yon's friend. He asks Yon why he killed his friend, and Yon replies that he did it because he was "a lowly mortal" . Yon is furious, and asks why Yon did it to him. Yon refuses to apologize for killing his friend. Yon says that he resented Yon for killing him, and that even though Yon had to kill him, he still did it for the sake of all people. Yon asks Yon to continue the story.
